Learn how to seamlessly mix tracks while filling the dance floor with Steve Le Mash. He will be delivering a special turnatablism workshop for aspiring DJs – young and old.
Steve Le Mash has been filling dance floors across Scotland for over a decade. Steve seamlessly blends music from many different genres, combining traditional Turntablism with modern DJ techniques.
A introduction to the world of professional djing and the associated skill sets leading to production of dance music.
A brief overview of djing.
Equipment used, mixers, media playback, controllers, decks. Midi, sound cards and sound systems.
Importance of audio quality and the change in media through the last 40 years.
Basic djing including beat matching, key consciousness and transition.
Software used serato, tractor, rekordbox and on to ableton live, use of DAWs,
Transition from dj set to production. Remixing other people’s music to suit your set.
Production techniques use of effect, plugins, dynamics and compression with hints the production process.
Mastering and use of compression via dynamic range within the mix.
Steve currently has weekly club residencies in Glasgow, Edinburgh and St Andrews as well as making guest appearances across the U.K. He has performed at parties for Scarlett Johansson, P Diddy, Rita Ora, The Game and The Mobo Awards.
